Our dear friend Lisa Maier came from a conference in Vienna to meet us in Barcelona for a few days. What a joy to see people we know!
On our first full day we took the metro into central Barcelona to see the Cathedral and other famous sights. It started raining, but we happened to be near one of the most highly-recommended tapas restaurants in Barcelona, where we took refuge for a couple hours. The food was simply amazing. They brought out plate after plate of tapas. You would just help yourself to whatever looked good; at the end of the meal, they count the toothpicks on your plate and charge you accordingly.
Here is a closeup of one particular delicacy, bread with cheese, a spicy pepper, an anchovy and some garnishes. Let it rain!
