As the famous character from the Roald Dahl Classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (made famous by the Park Hill Players) so aptly put it: “I want Oompah Loompahs to row me about.” Well, maybe this isn’t an Oompah Loompah, but obviously we are enjoying the ride.
Here we are rowing about on Lake Bled, a lovely up-and-coming resort town in Slovenia. Think Aspen 35 years ago, sans the world-class skiing, but with world-class scenery and a serious knack for entrepreneurism. You get the picture. Lake Bled is one of Slovenia’s national treasures; the water is crystal clear and has a marked green hue, and the lake boasts an island you can row (or swim) to with a church on it. Who could ask for more?
